Brela
The crag at the very south of the Adriatic coast, is a part of a very popular tourist region summer resort around Makarska. During the hot summer months, climbing is usually enriched by swimming, surfing and hikes to the "rocks - and shrubs" wilderness of the Biokovo mountain. A gorgeous view on the coast and nearby islands of Hvar and Brac, which I strongly recommend to be included in your itinerary, makes this crag very attractive and exciting place to visit.
Position
50 km south of Split, on the Adriatic highway (Jadranska magistrala).
Rock, routes
Grey limestone, real "Paklenica" type of rock, very firm and sharp. The crag is dominated by slabs and slates, excellent for those who favour balance routes. Routes are equipped with in - situ bolt protection. The central part of the crag is 50 to 60 m high, so you should use 50 meter rope. All we know about the routes is the fact that they were first climbed by anonymous Austrian climbers, to whom we are really grateful, but who failed to inform us on the names and grades of the climbs. I hope t mind that the rock is turned south, so it can be really hot in the midsummer. In the winter time, provide yourself with a good windproof jacket, because Bura is known as a cold and very powerful wind.
Routes are numbered from left to right.
Sector Antonia
Sector Mafioso
Sector Caffe Central
Sector Peljesac
It is recommended that you buy climbing guide "Croatia" from Boris Cujic.
